My husband can trace his Whitfield of Northumberland ancestors back to Robert de Whitfield who died after 1332. I presume you already have a'tree' of the Whitfields of Whitfield.

Never actually met John Barry Whitfield but was also on active service when he died, grieved over the death of a fellow Rhodesian like we all did back then. Today while signing up people for a shooting match I met John Barry Whitfield who is The late great's nephew and his bro Alan.
My good friend Brian also at the shoot partnered JBW as a scout on their selection way back then. How good to meet members of such a family. JBW somehow seems to be such a sad but well known representative of all those men that died in their prime fighting for a cause that even in retrospect cannot be questioned, I salute you all.

I have read the Home page and the Whitfields to SA page. I was interested to note that Charlotte was an 1820 British settler. My mom's family were also 1820 British settlers.

Yolanda
